Usually we think about why we need to celebrate us Dads on Fathers day . Here’s why we appreciate the opportunities to be one:

  1. Seeing you being born
  2. Seeing the smile on your child’s mother’s face when she holds you for the first time.
  3. Introducing you to your family for the first time
  4. Watching a sibling hold your hand for the first time.
  5. Seeing your first smile and laugh
  6. Giving you your first feeding – even at 2 am – ok I didn’t do a lot of this.
  7. Having you fall asleep in our arms
  8. Hearing your first words other than a cry- my daughters first was “da da” (winner!!!)
  9. Seeing you crawl for the first time
  10. Your first steps.
  11. Seeing you with your first teddy bear or doll
  12. Witnessing your first defiant act- our daughter decided to climb up the stairs without us knowing it.
  13. Reading you your first bed time story.

  28. Coming home from work and having you run up and say “HI DADDY I MISSED YOU!”
  29. Hearing you sing for the first time – even better when you botch the words.
  30. Losing and then finding you for the first time – Lost my son once and I called 911 – he had climbed into my car in the garage and was pretending to drive!!!
  31.  Pushing you on a swing – even better hearing “faster faster Daddy. Do underdog!”
  32. The Circus with you
  33. Vacations with you
  34. The first day of Kindergarten.
  35. Teaching you to ride a bike
